Schneider Electric supplies a complete family of IEC 61439-oriented components and type-tested switchboard platforms that simplify assembly design and verification for utility, industrial and commercial power distribution. The Prisma Set type-tested switchboard is offered as a verified assembly platform for main distribution boards (MDB), power-control-centers (PCC), motor-control-centers (MCC) and large PCC/MDB combinations — commonly specified to 4000 A bus ratings with Forms of separation 1 through 4b and environmental protection up to IP55. Linergy busbar and connector systems provide the internal distribution backbone and flexible tap-offs used in both compartmented switchgear and busbar trunking applications (IEC 61439-6). Protection and switching devices include the Masterpact MTZ air circuit-breaker family (frame sizes commonly to several thousand amperes with electronic trip units, energy metering and communication), Compact NSX moulded-case circuit-breakers for feeder and sub-feeder duties, and TeSys contactors and motor starters for motor-control applications. These devices are manufactured to IEC 60947 series requirements (60947-1 general, 60947-2 circuit breakers, 60947-4-1 contactors and motor controllers) and integrate with Schneider’s EcoStruxure Power monitoring and control ecosystem (Modbus, IEC 61850-ready gateways and PowerLogic metering). When used in IEC 61439 assemblies, Schneider components support the required verification regime: routine tests, temperature-rise, dielectric, and short-circuit withstand testing per IEC 61439-1/-2. Typical short-circuit withstands for Prisma Set-based assemblies can be engineered to 50–100 kA symmetrical (application dependent); Masterpact breakers offer high interrupting capacities for downstream protection and selective coordination. For hazardous-area installations, Schneider provides Ex-certified and IEC 60079-compliant devices and enclosures or documented engineering approaches for segregation and purging. Practical applications include: main-distribution-boards, generator-control-panels (with breaker-synchronizing and transfer schemes), automatic-transfer-switch (ATS) assemblies, power-factor-correction banks, variable-frequency-drive (VFD) integration (Altivar family), metering and submetering panels, lighting distribution boards, PLC/automation enclosures and custom-engineered panels. Typical engineering deliverables for panel builders and EPCs include short-circuit studies, selectivity curves, arc-flash incident energy studies, and factory FATs with EcoStruxure logging.
