Schneider Electric Lighting Distribution Board

Schneider Electric components integrated into IEC 61439 lighting distribution board assemblies. Schneider Electric provides the Prisma Set type-tested switchboard system, Masterpact MTZ and Compact NSX breakers, TeSys contactors, and Linergy busbar systems for IEC 61439 panels.

The Schneider Electric Lighting Distribution Board is an IEC 61439-3 compliant lighting distribution assembly that pairs Schneider’s type-tested switchboard platform and LV component families to deliver compact, serviceable final distribution for commercial, institutional and industrial lighting systems. The product family leverages Prisma SeT as the type-tested switchboard platform (design-verified up to 4000 A, Forms 1–4b separation and IP ratings to IP55) while the lighting board variant typically implements mains configurations up to 400 A with outgoing ranges of 12–72 ways for fluorescent, LED and emergency lighting circuits. Incoming protection is specified with Masterpact MTZ or Compact NSX breakers depending on required Icu/Icw and selectivity: Masterpact MTZ for higher-energy incoming protection and Compact NSX for compact, modular mains and feeder breakers. Linergy busbar systems provide low-loss, tap-changeable bus distribution and fast, tool-less tap-off installation for later expansion. Outgoing protection and selective isolation are realized with Acti9/Multi9 MCBs, RCBOs and RCCBs for per-circuit protection and earth-fault detection; Type 2 surge protection devices are applied at distribution board level per IEC 61643-11 to protect luminaires and control gear. Lighting contact switching is implemented with TeSys contactors or motor-rated relays where group switching or centralized control is required; TeSys complies with IEC 60947 series requirements for electromechanical switching and provides high mechanical endurance for frequent cycling in occupancy-based lighting. For lighting controls the assembly integrates EcoStruxure / SpaceLogic gateways for DALI and KNX interface—allowing dimming, emergency test reporting and building automation integration while preserving segregation requirements for emergency circuits. Design compliance references IEC 61439-1 (general requirements) and IEC 61439-3 (distribution boards) for verification of rated currents, temperature rise, dielectric properties and short-circuit withstand (Icw/Ipk). Circuit breaker selection references IEC 60947-2 and contactor selection IEC 60947-4-1. For installations in hazardous atmospheres, component and enclosure selections are coordinated with IEC 60079 standards and certified Ex modules where required. Typical short-circuit withstand levels for lighting distribution boards range from 10 kA to 50 kA or higher depending on site prospective short-circuit current (PSCC); Prisma SeT platforms can be type-tested for higher Icw values to simplify factory certification and site verification. Typical applications: office buildings, hospitals, retail malls, airports, stadium concourses and industrial warehouses where centralized lighting control, emergency lighting segregation and integrated SPD/automation are required. The result is a modular, maintainable lighting board using Schneider Electric technologies—Prisma SeT, Masterpact MTZ, Compact NSX, TeSys contactors and Linergy busbars—engineered to IEC 61439 series requirements and factory-tested to reduce on-site verification time and commissioning risk.
