IEC 61439 Panels

Hager Metering & Monitoring Panel

Hager components integrated into IEC 61439 metering & monitoring panel assemblies. Hager offers Univers N enclosure systems and h3+ moulded-case breakers for IEC 61439 commercial and building distribution panel assemblies.

The Hager Metering & Monitoring Panel is an IEC 61439-compliant metering cubicle family that pairs Hager’s proven component portfolio with engineered measurement compartments for commercial, institutional and light-industrial distribution. Typical builds use Hager Univers N enclosures as the mechanical platform and h3+ moulded-case breakers (MCCBs) for upstream and feeder protection (tested to IEC 60947-2). Revenue-grade measurement is provided by Hager Modbus/M‑Bus capable multi-function meters (Class 0.5S–1.0 accuracy) and CT-operated measurement chains sized to match rated system currents up to 2500 A. CT secondary wiring, short-circuit protection for the CT circuit, and measurement compartment segregation follow IEC 61869 and IEC 61439-1 verification requirements to preserve measurement integrity and safety. Panels are factory-configured for common metering applications: tenant sub‑billing, whole-building energy management, power quality logging (THD, harmonics to 25th order), and supervisory SCADA/BMS integration. Communications support includes Modbus RTU/TCP, M‑Bus and Ethernet gateways for AMR/AMM, with options for SNMP or OPC using third‑party protocol converters. The mechanical arrangement supports Forms of Separation from Form 1 through Form 4b/4c per IEC 61439-1/2 so metering cubicles, LV switchgear, and CT compartments can be isolated for maintenance, and IP ratings are selectable from IP31–IP54 (IP42 typical for commercial installs). Busbar systems are sized and verified for rated currents up to 2500 A with short-circuit withstand up to 50–65 kA depending on configuration and verification testing per IEC 61439-1 type and routine test regimes. Design features include dedicated CT chambers with removable CT rails, separate metering neutral bus, pluggable measurement gateways for hot-swap comms, and space for surge protective devices (SPD) compliant with IEC 61643. Protection coordination is achieved using Hager h3+ trip curve options and selective fusing to obtain discrimination to IEC 60947-2 guidance. For projects requiring more robust switchgear hydridization, Hager-based metering panels are comparable to mainstream switchgear families such as SIVACON, MNS and Prisma Set in terms of verification scope, but optimized for building metering use-cases. Typical real-world applications: multi-tenant office blocks and shopping centres for tenant billing, hospitals and universities for critical load segregation and PQ logging, data centre secondary distribution for sub‑feed energy accounting, and industrial sub-distribution requiring high accuracy CT metering. Each assembly is factory-tested and supplied with an IEC 61439 test report, wiring diagram, and calibration certificate for Class 0.5S meters. Custom layouts, higher IP ratings, or hazardous-area adaptations to IEC 60079 can be engineered on request.
