Rittal Custom Engineered Panel
Rittal components integrated into IEC 61439 custom engineered panel assemblies. Rittal is the industry-leading enclosure manufacturer offering the Ri4Power type-tested system within VX25 and TS 8 enclosures, plus integrated climate control solutions.
Rittal Custom Engineered Panels combine Rittal enclosure and subsystem technology with project-specific design, engineering, and IEC 61439 verification to deliver high-reliability low-voltage switchgear and power distribution assemblies. Typical Rittal building blocks used in these panels include the Ri4Power type-tested power distribution system (busbar trunks and meter/feeder modules), RiLine/RiLine60 busbar tap systems for TS 8, and the VX25 and TS 8 enclosure families for structural integrity, IP66 gasketing and modular accessory integration. Rittal climate-control products (TopTherm cooling units, Blue e energy-efficient fans, and filtered ventilation) and cable-entry systems are integrated to meet environmental demands from IP20 service rooms to IP65/IP66 outdoor and marine installations. Ri4Power supports project-rated main bus currents (type-tested up to 5,500 A in factory-validated configurations) with compartmentalization options from Form 1 through Form 4b to achieve selective separation between incoming feeders, busbars, and outgoing feeders. Design verification follows IEC 61439-1 and IEC 61439-2 requirements for power switchgear and controlgear assemblies: temperature-rise calculations, dielectric properties, clearances/creepage, and short-circuit withstand capability are verified by type-test, calculation and routine checks. For hazardous-area or offshore applications the assembly design additionally references IEC 60079 (ATEX/Ex) and marine standards for structural fixings, galvanic protection, and paint systems. Component selection follows IEC 60947 device ratings (circuit-breakers, contactors, relays) and the panel short-circuit rating is confirmed by busbar mechanical design, bolted joint integrity, and tested/proven bolted-lug arrangements. Typical short-circuit ratings for custom engineered configurations vary by busbar cross-section and breaker selection; Rittal Ri4Power-based assemblies commonly achieve project short-circuit ratings in the 25 kA–150 kA range (application dependent) with formal verification per IEC 61439-1. Real-world applications include utility substation LV distribution, data center main and distribution switchboards, machine tool and process plant MCCs, marine switchboards, and hazardous-area power distribution for oil & gas and petrochemical EPC projects. When clients require cross-platform comparisons, Rittal panels are often evaluated alongside Siemens SIVACON, MNS and Schneider Electric PrismaSet systems; key differentiators for Rittal are enclosure modularity (VX25), integrated climate and cable management, and the Ri4Power type-tested busbar family which simplifies factory verification. For custom requirements — non-standard form factors, atypical ingress protection, high short-circuit ratings, or integrated HMI/operator stations — Rittal Custom Engineered Panels are engineered to perform and documented to meet the applicable clauses of IEC 61439-series standards with full component traceability and factory test records.
