IEC 61439 Panels

LS Electric Custom Engineered Panel

LS Electric components integrated into IEC 61439 custom engineered panel assemblies. LS Electric provides Susol and Metasol moulded-case breakers, MC contactor series, and iS7 variable frequency drives as cost-effective components for IEC 61439 panels.

The LS Electric Custom Engineered Panel is a purpose-built IEC 61439 low-voltage assembly that integrates LS Electric field-proven components (Susol and Metasol MCCBs, MC contactors, and iS7 variable frequency drives) to meet project-specific distribution, motor control, and automation requirements. Designed and verified to IEC 61439-1/-2, the assemblies use IEC 60947-series devices (60947-2 for circuit breakers, 60947-4-1 for contactors) and can be engineered for generator, utility, or plant-side switchboards. Typical Metasol/Susol moulded-case breakers cover 16 A–2500 A continuous ratings and offer thermal-magnetic and electronic trip units; depending on breaker selection, busbar layout, and cubicle construction, short-circuit withstand/let-through performance can be engineered to typical Icu ranges from 10 kA up to 100 kA (project dependent) and higher with bespoke busbar reinforcement and testing. Form of separation is implemented per IEC 61439 provisions (Form 1 through Form 4b selectable) to isolate functional units, operator compartments, and live parts for safer maintenance. IP ratings from IP20 to IP66 are available via sealed cubicles, hygienic marine finishes, or special enclosures compliant with IEC 60529; explosion-protected versions reference IEC 60079 for hazardous-area enclosures and can be certificated to ATEX/IECEx. For shipboard and offshore applications the panel build adheres to marine electrical practices (IEC 60092 and class society requirements such as DNV/ABS) with corrosion-resistant finishes and grounding provisions. The iS7 VFD family offers vector-control motor drives with built-in EMC filters and options for regenerative control, making them suitable for pump, fan, and conveyor skids integrated within IEC 61439 switchboards where harmonic mitigation and motor protection are required (refer to IEC 61800-3 for EMC guidance). Control cubicles can include custom HMIs, PLCs, and communication gateways (Modbus TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP) for SCADA and BMS integration. For larger, modular switchgear comparisons or benchmarks, designers often evaluate Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS, and Schneider Prisma Set when specifying segmentation, busbar systems, and withdrawal units; LS Electric-based assemblies provide a cost-effective alternative while meeting the same verification and routine testing regime. All custom engineered panels are supplied with verification documentation aligned to IEC 61439 (type test reports, design calculation for temperature rise, short-circuit, clearances/creepage, and routine test records). Typical applications include industrial distribution, MCCs for motors and compressors, data center source distribution, marine/offshore power centers, wastewater and mining projects where tailored ratings, enclosure options (IP/ATEX/marine), and non-standard form factors are required.
