Legrand Custom Engineered Panel
Legrand components integrated into IEC 61439 custom engineered panel assemblies. Legrand provides XL³ enclosure systems, DPX3 and DRX moulded-case breakers, and Viking terminal blocks for IEC 61439 distribution and commercial panel assemblies.
The Legrand Custom Engineered Panel is a project-specific IEC 61439 low-voltage switchboard solution that integrates Legrand product families (XL³ enclosures, DPX³ and DRX breakers, Viking terminal blocks and modular ancillary kits) into fully type-verified assemblies. Panels are engineered to meet IEC 61439-1/-2 requirements and, where applicable, IEC 61439-3 and -6 rules for building-installation and assembly-specific cases. Design references include IEC 60947 series for switchgear performance, IEC 60529 for IP ratings, IEC 60079 for explosive-atmosphere adaptations and IEC 60092 for marine shipboard practice. Typical busbar systems are type-tested and sized up to 4000 A with rated voltages up to 1000 V AC; practical short-circuit capability is established per-project and validated by calculation and testing to IEC 61439 short-time and peak withstand protocols. Legrand DPX³ and DRX protection devices are integrated to deliver coordinated upstream/feed protection; frame-dependent breaking capacities (Icu) approach industry benchmarks (up to approximately 150 kA at 400–415 V for selected frames per manufacturer data) while panel-level electrodynamic and thermal withstand are proven by IEC 61439 tests. Internal arrangement options support Forms of Separation from Form 1 through Form 4b, enabling segregated busbar compartments, draw-out or fixed breaker zones, separated cable ducts and dedicated control wiring channels to meet operational maintenance and safety needs. Environmental adaptations include enclosure ingress ratings IP20–IP66, washdown construction, marine-grade stainless-steel or epoxy-painted carbon steel, and ATEX/hazardous-area adaptations compliant with IEC 60079. Operator ergonomics and control integration include custom HMI, mimic panels, metering (MID and multifunction meters), digital relays and SCADA/Modbus/IEC 61850 interfaces to support energy management, selective coordination and automatic transfer schemes. Documentation and deliverables conform to IEC 61439 requirements: type-test or calculation reports for rated operational current (In), rated insulation voltage (Ui), rated impulse withstand voltage (Uimp), short-time withstand (Icw) and peak withstand (Ipk), temperature-rise verification, routine continuity and functional test records, and certificate cross-references for Legrand components. Typical applications span commercial building distribution mains, data center PDUs and switchboards, hospital MDBs with segregated critical loads, industrial plant sub-distribution, offshore platforms and shipboard switchgear. For specification benchmarking, Legrand-based custom engineered panels are frequently evaluated alongside Siemens SIVACON, MNS and Schneider Prisma SeT families to align enclosure architecture, busbar layout and breaker selection with project priorities.
