IEC 61439 Panels

Eaton Custom Engineered Panel

Eaton components integrated into IEC 61439 custom engineered panel assemblies. Eaton provides the xEnergy type-tested switchboard system, NZM/NZMN moulded-case breakers, DIL contactors, and PKZ motor protection devices for IEC 61439 assemblies.

The Eaton Custom Engineered Panel is a project-driven low-voltage assembly built around Eaton’s field-proven component families—xEnergy type‑tested switchboard system, NZM/NZMN moulded-case circuit breakers, DIL contactors and PKZ motor protection devices—to meet IEC 61439 series requirements for modern power distribution. These assemblies are designed and verified per IEC 61439‑1/2 with coordination to the relevant switchgear standards (IEC 60947) and hazardous‑area guidance (IEC 60079) for ATEX or IECEx projects. Typical delivery includes type and routine test evidence (dielectric, temperature rise, short‑circuit withstand, and mechanical endurance) or a manufacturer/engineer verification when assemblies are built from certified components. Eaton xEnergy provides a type‑tested backbone for custom switchboards up to 6300 A with configurable busbar systems and segregation options. NZM/NZMN breakers offer electronic trip units, communications modules (Modbus, Ethernet/IP options), and breaking capacities suitable for short‑circuit ratings commonly engineered between 25 kA and 100 kA (project‑dependent). PKZ motor protectors and DIL contactors facilitate compact motor control and selective protection in integrated motor control centers (MCCs) within the same enclosure. Custom engineered panels support Forms of Separation 1–4b to meet service continuity and maintainability targets: from minimal separation to fully segregated bus, functional units, and compartments. Environmental protection ranges from IP20 for indoor switchrooms to IP65/IP66 for outdoor or washdown enclosures; bespoke marine finishes, corrosion resistance, and ATEX‑rated construction are available for offshore and petrochemical applications. Internal segregation, selective coordination, and thermal management are engineered to meet rated currents and short‑circuit withstand specified per project. Compared to alternative type‑tested systems such as Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS or Schneider Prisma Set, Eaton’s xEnergy and NZM ecosystem are optimized for modular, retrofittable assemblies where non‑standard ratings, unusual footprint constraints, bespoke HMI or communications stacks, and multi‑function integration are required. Real‑world applications include data centers, process plants, marine vessels, renewables substations, mining operations, and heavy industrial facilities. For EPC contractors and facility owners, Eaton Custom Engineered Panels offer a traceable compliance path under IEC 61439 together with Eaton component warranties and lifecycle support.
