Power Control Center (PCC) for Infrastructure & Utilities

IEC 61439 power control center (pcc) assemblies engineered for infrastructure & utilities applications. IEC 61439 panel assemblies for power substations, transportation networks, telecommunications, and public infrastructure projects.

Power Control Center (PCC) assemblies for Infrastructure & Utilities are engineered low-voltage switchgear solutions built to IEC 61439-1/-2 rules, delivering high-capacity, selective distribution from transformer LV outputs through to final circuits. Typical PCCs mirror commercial platforms such as Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS, and Schneider Prisma SeT but are custom-configured for substations, rail traction substations, airport central plant, telecom power hubs and municipal pumping/lighting centers. Designs commonly provide rated currents up to 6300 A, short-circuit withstand (Icw) in the 65–120 kA/1s range, and rated voltages to 690 VAC. Form of separation options (Form 2, 3b through 4b) are applied per IEC 61439 to segregate busbar, cable, functional units and protection devices for safe maintenance and selective fault isolation. Electrical architecture includes a high-capacity air-insulated busbar system (single or multi-sectioned, copper or aluminum, parallel runs for redundancy), incoming ACBs/VCBs for main transformer feed, MCCBs and withdrawable feeders for distribution, automatic transfer switches for generator/utility transfer, and optional busbar trunking compliant with IEC 61439-6. Protection and selective coordination use devices certified to IEC 60947 series and relay solutions from SEL, ABB, Schneider or Siemens; time-current coordination and instantaneous earth-fault settings are validated against available fault level and transformer protection. Monitoring and power quality are integral: embedded energy meters (e.g., Siemens 7KM/ SENTRON, Schneider PowerLogic), harmonic analysers and PQ measurement per IEC 61000-4-30, and surge protective devices to IEC 61643-11. Communications follow utility protocols such as IEC 61850 for substation automation and IEC 60870-5-104 or Modbus TCP for SCADA integration. Environmental and site requirements include IP31–IP54 standard enclosures with options to IP65/IP66 for outdoor kiosks, stainless steel 304/316 for coastal sites, anti-condensation heaters, forced ventilation or climate control, and corrosion protection per ISO 12944. For hazardous atmospheres, Ex enclosures and components to IEC 60079 are applied. Typical configurations: single-line transformer-fed PCC with bus section and multiple feeder bays; dual-bus or ring-main for continuity; generator paralleling and synchronization bays; integrated MCC modules for motor loads; and compact modular PCCs with embedded metering and communication racks. Compliance, factory type tests and routine tests are executed per IEC 61439-1/-2 (dielectric, temperature-rise, short-circuit, mechanical operation, protective device verification) and factory acceptance testing (FAT) is recommended for utility projects to validate performance under specified rated currents and fault levels.
