Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Panel for Infrastructure & Utilities

IEC 61439 automatic transfer switch (ats) panel assemblies engineered for infrastructure & utilities applications. IEC 61439 panel assemblies for power substations, transportation networks, telecommunications, and public infrastructure projects.

Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) panel assemblies for Infrastructure & Utilities are engineered low-voltage switchgear solutions built to IEC 61439 series requirements and tailored to the extreme reliability, maintainability and interoperability needs of substations, rail traction sites, airports, telecom hubs and municipal infrastructure. Typical product implementations integrate modular low-voltage platforms such as Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS or Schneider Prisma Set families, combining ACB/MCCB switching, vacuum contactors or static (thyristor-based) transfer modules. Design scope addresses IEC 61439-1/2 (assembly verification and power switchgear), with component selection to IEC 60947 series and protection/relay functions per IEC 60255. For installations in explosive atmospheres (fuel stations, generator houses) hazardous-area compliance to IEC 60079 is applied. ATS panels are supplied in 2‑source and 3‑source configurations, rated up to 4000 A with transfer times from 0.1–10 s, IP ratings from IP31 to IP54, and short‑circuit withstand typically specified up to 50–100 kA rms symmetrical (Icw) with corresponding peak currents sized per IEC 61439 short-circuit verification. Forms of separation (Form 1, 2, 3a/3b and 4a/4b) are selected to meet operability and maintenance policies; critical infrastructure frequently requires Form 4b segregation to enable safe on-load maintenance and busbar fault containment. Transfer modes include open-transition (break-before-make), closed-transition (make-before-break synchronization) and static/soft-transfer options for zero‑interruption switching in telecom/rail applications. Functional requirements include adjustable transfer/retransfer timing, multi-parameter source monitoring (voltage, frequency, phase sequence), generator acceptance control, load prioritization and shedding schemes, paralleling controllers and synchronization interfaces. Communications and integration follow industry SCADA and protection protocols — Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104 or DNP3 — for remote control, telemetry and event reporting. Environmental and site considerations include altitude derating, temperature range selection (typical −25 °C to +55 °C operational design), salt‑mist corrosion classes (ISO 12944 C3–C5), seismic anchoring and IK impact ratings. Verification and commissioning follow IEC 61439 type and routine tests: dielectric withstand, temperature-rise, short-circuit making and withstand, mechanical operation and verification of protective device coordination. Factory FATs and site SATs include transfer sequence testing with actual generator sets or simulated sources. For brownfield retrofits the modularity of SIVACON, MNS and Prisma Set architectures allows staged upgrades, integration of static transfer modules and enhanced metering/relay packages. Patrion’s ATS panel engineering aligns IEC 61439 assembly verification with project-specific specs to deliver resilient automatic transfer solutions for infrastructure and utilities projects.
