Siemens Power Control Center (PCC)
Siemens components integrated into IEC 61439 power control center (pcc) assemblies. Siemens offers a complete IEC 61439 type-tested panel ecosystem including the SIVACON S8 switchboard system, 3VA/3WA circuit breakers, SIRIUS contactors, and SENTRON measuring devices.

The Siemens Power Control Center (PCC) is an IEC 61439-2 type-tested concept combining the SIVACON S8 switchboard backbone with Siemens protection, control and monitoring products to deliver factory-verified low-voltage main distribution and motor control solutions. The SIVACON S8 provides a high-capacity, compartmentalised busbar system with documented design verification for rated currents up to 7,400 A in Siemens literature; typical assembled PCC units from Patrion are supplied up to 6,300 A with short-circuit ratings in the 65–120 kA (1 s) range depending on breaker selection and busbar geometry. Circuit protection uses Siemens 3VA/3WL family breakers (type-tested per IEC 60947-2 for breaking and making capacity), coordinated with selective protection devices and fault-limiting fuses to achieve transformer-to-final-circuit selectivity and required service continuity. Motor control blocks leverage SIRIUS contactors and starters (for example 3RT2 contactors and 3RW soft starters), compliant with IEC 60947-4-1/4-2, while SENTRON PAC series meters (PAC3200/PAC4200) and SICAM gateways add integrated power monitoring, harmonic measurement and IEC 61850/Modbus connectivity for plant SCADA and EMS integration. Assemblies are engineered to IEC 61439-1/2 verification methods for temperature rise, dielectric properties, short-circuit withstand and protection against electric shock; forms of separation are implemented as required (Form 3b through Form 4b) to segregate busbars, functional units and wiring zones. Enclosure protection is selectable from IP31 to IP54 to suit indoor industrial, commercial and light process applications. Typical applications include main incoming distribution for industrial plants, transformer secondary switchboards, motor control centers for pumping and compressor halls, data center PDUs, and utility substations where high short-circuit withstand and selectivity are mandatory. For hazardous-area or petrochemical sites, component selection and enclosure certification are coordinated with IEC 60079 requirements and approved Ex-certified Siemens devices where available. Design activities for the Siemens PCC include short-circuit and selective coordination studies, harmonic and motor starting analyses, thermal rating and derating for continuous transformer output, and factory routine tests per IEC 61439 (IP verification, wiring checks, functional test) prior to delivery. In summary, the Siemens Power Control Center pairs the SIVACON S8 type-tested mechanical platform with Siemens 3VA/3WL breakers, SIRIUS motor control, SENTRON/SICAM monitoring and IEC 60947-rated protection to deliver verified, high-capacity PCC solutions for demanding industrial and commercial power distribution applications.
