Rittal Power Control Center (PCC)
Rittal components integrated into IEC 61439 power control center (pcc) assemblies. Rittal is the industry-leading enclosure manufacturer offering the Ri4Power type-tested system within VX25 and TS 8 enclosures, plus integrated climate control solutions.

The Rittal Power Control Center (PCC) is a factory-integrated IEC 61439 power distribution assembly that couples Rittal’s Ri4Power type-tested busbar system with VX25 and TS 8 enclosure platforms to deliver transformer-fed distribution, selective protection coordination, and integrated power monitoring. Architected for industrial and utility-class installations (data centers, petrochemical, heavy industry, hospitals), the PCC supports rated currents up to 6300 A and short-circuit withstand ratings from 65 kA to 120 kA / 1 s. Ri4Power provides a compact, low-impedance busbar with modular tap-offs, shielded phases, and vertical/horizontal bus runs; it is type-tested per IEC 61439-1/-2 which reduces bespoke verification work for panel builders. Mechanical and electrical segregation options cover Forms of Separation from Form 3b through Form 4b, enabling metal-barrier, insulated compartmentalization and withdrawal-ready functional units for compartmentalized feeders and protection devices. The VX25 and TS 8 platforms deliver flexible IP ratings (IP31 through IP54) with accessory options such as TopTherm climate control, Blue e+ cooling, and accessory cable routing. Rittal RiLine or Ri4Power busbar tap-off modules accept mainstream protection devices (Siemens 3WL/3VA, ABB Emax/Tmax, Schneider Masterpact/Compact NSX) and power quality meters from Socomec, Schneider PowerLogic, or Siemens Sentron PAC for harmonic measurement, THD trending, and demand management. Electrical verification adheres to IEC 61439 verification routes: type test evidence from Ri4Power, combined with routine testing of assembled PCC units (dielectric, continuity, and functional checks). Short-circuit performance is specified as Icw/Icn and verified for dynamic and thermal stability per IEC 61439-1/-2 and correlates to IEC 60947 series requirements for switchgear components. For hazardous-area projects, enclosures and component selection can be adapted to IEC 60079 standards with suitably certified devices and glands. Design considerations include end-to-end selective coordination from transformer LV secondary to final circuit breakers, thermal rating of busbar/contacts for continuous full-transformer output, segregation of CT/cabinet metering, and provision for manual or digital remote control (IEC 61850 integration available via gateway modules). Compared with alternative vendor PCC systems such as Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS, or Schneider Prisma SeT, Rittal’s Ri4Power emphasizes a type-tested, enclosure-centric approach that simplifies mechanical integration and reduces site commissioning time. Typical applications require specification of In (up to 6300 A), rated voltage 690 V AC, short-circuit rating 65–120 kA/1 s, and specified Form of Separation (3b–4b) to meet project arc-flash and coordination objectives.
