LS Electric Power Control Center (PCC)
LS Electric components integrated into IEC 61439 power control center (pcc) assemblies. LS Electric provides Susol and Metasol moulded-case breakers, MC contactor series, and iS7 variable frequency drives as cost-effective components for IEC 61439 panels.

The LS Electric Power Control Center (PCC) is an IEC 61439-2 compliant power distribution assembly engineered for transformer-fed plant mains, central distribution and large motor loads. It combines LS Electric switchgear components—Susol and Metasol moulded-case circuit breakers (MCCBs), MC contactors, and iS7 variable frequency drives (VFDs)—with a high-capacity, mechanically-braced busbar arrangement sized to deliver the full transformer output up to 6,300 A. Typical electrical ratings: 690 V AC system voltage, rated currents to 6,300 A, and short-circuit withstand from 65 kA to 120 kA (1 s) depending on busbar cross-section and bracing. Assemblies are designed in Forms of Separation from Form 3b through Form 4b to provide individual outgoing compartmentation, enhanced insulation clearances, and withdrawable units where required. Susol and Metasol MCCBs are employed for final circuit protection and feeder protection; both families are certified to IEC 60947-2 and offer thermal-magnetic and electronic trip units with adjustable characteristics to achieve selective coordination against upstream protection. MC series contactors meet IEC 60947-4-1 for motor switching and are used in motor feeders and soft-start circuits. The LS iS7 VFD family (sensorless/vector control platforms) is integrated for variable-speed motor control, harmonic-optimized switching and fieldbus connectivity; VFD installation follows IEC 61800 series guidance and includes du/dt filters, output reactors or active front-end (AFE) options where harmonics must be mitigated. Electrical design follows IEC 61439-1/2 requirements for rated operational currents, short-time withstand (Icw), and electrodynamic stresses. Busbar arrangements (single, parallel, or sectionalised) are modelled for thermal rise and mechanical forces; short-circuit calculations and mechanical bracing comply with IEC 61439 thermal and mechanical verification methods. Power monitoring and power quality modules are integrated for demand management and harmonic measurement consistent with IEC 61000-4-series measurement practice and IEC 62053 class metering when revenue-grade metering is required. Protection coordination is achieved using time-current curve analysis, let-through energy (I2t) matching, and selective tripping between transformer protection, upstream breakers and LS feeders. For hazardous-area installations, PCCs can be configured to maintain segregation from Ex equipment and support components certified per IEC 60079. Optional internal-arc containment can be implemented and tested per IEC 61641/IEC 61439 guidance. Final assemblies undergo factory acceptance testing (FAT) and routine tests mandated by IEC 61439-1/2: dielectric, temperature-rise, short-circuit verification, and mechanical checks. In practice, LS Electric PCCs are deployed in heavy industry, petrochemical plants, data centers, large commercial buildings and utilities—offering a cost-competitive alternative to modular architectures such as SIVACON, MNS or Prisma Set while meeting the same IEC performance and safety standards.
