Phoenix Contact PLC & Automation Control Panel
Phoenix Contact components integrated into IEC 61439 plc & automation control panel assemblies. Phoenix Contact supplies essential panel wiring infrastructure including CLIPLINE terminal blocks, TRABTECH surge protection devices, COMBICON connectors, and marking systems.
The Phoenix Contact PLC & Automation Control Panel is an IEC 61439-2 compliant assembly that integrates Phoenix Contact hardware families — PLCnext controllers, Axioline/Inline distributed I/O, CLIPLINE terminal blocks, COMBICON connector systems, QUINT power supplies, FL SWITCH managed Ethernet, and TRABTECH surge protection — into factory-tested machine and process control panels. Designed for machine builders, OEM skids, discrete manufacturing lines, and water/wastewater skid systems, these panels are engineered for rated currents from 10 A up to 2,500 A on distribution buses and short-circuit withstands commonly specified between 10 kA and 100 kA rms symmetrical depending on busbar sizing, coordination and protective device selection. Typical configurations include PLCnext Control CPUs for PAC-class processing and IEC 61131/PLCopen-compatible logic, redundant PLC architectures for high-availability, and Axioline/Inline I/O for remote expansion to 10,000+ I/O points. CLIPLINE terminal blocks (feed-through, fuse, sensor/actuator, and disconnect variants) provide organized termination and currents to 76 A per terminal depending on series; COMBICON connector families enable plug-in field connections and pre-wired harness integration. QUINT power supplies with redundant modules and buffer/UPS options deliver 24 VDC redundant plant power. FL SWITCH managed switches implement VLAN segmentation, IGMP snooping, LACP and PROFINET/EtherNet/IP deterministic features for industrial networks. Protection and coordination leverage TRABTECH surge arresters for mains and signal line protection, selected and coordinated per IEC 61643-11 and IEC 62305 guidelines. Panels are designed with selectable forms of separation per IEC 61439-1 (Form 2b / 3a / 3b / 4b) to provide segregation between functional units, busbars and control wiring for safety and maintainability. All designs adhere to IEC 61439 verification requirements (temperature-rise, dielectric, short-circuit, and IP testing) and integrate applicable IEC 60947 series devices for switching and circuit protection. For hazardous area applications the enclosure and selected components can be specified to meet IEC 60079 requirements. Mechanical and electrical options include IP31 to IP54 enclosures, copper or tin-plated copper busbars sized for continuous current and fault-rating targets, compartmentalized wiring ducts, removable instrument carriers for HMIs and control modules, and marking solutions for terminal identification. Real-world deployments include packaging lines requiring sub-millisecond I/O performance, water treatment skids with redundant PLCnext controllers and TRABTECH-coordinated SPD stacks, and factory automation systems where VLAN-segmented FL SWITCH fabrics maintain deterministic PROFINET traffic. Patrion’s engineering team configures, BOMs, and certifies these assemblies, performs factory verification testing per IEC 61439, and supplies documentation packages for FAT and site commissioning.
