Rittal Motor Control Center (MCC)
Rittal components integrated into IEC 61439 motor control center (mcc) assemblies. Rittal is the industry-leading enclosure manufacturer offering the Ri4Power type-tested system within VX25 and TS 8 enclosures, plus integrated climate control solutions.

The Rittal Motor Control Center (MCC) combines Rittal enclosure and distribution technology (Ri4Power, VX25, TS 8) with IEC 61439-2 compliant MCC design practices to deliver centralized motor control for industrial plants, water/wastewater, HVAC, mining, and petrochemical installations. Ri4Power is a type-tested busbar and distribution system engineered for withdrawable and fixed functional units, available in common bus ratings such as 1600A, 3200A, 4000A and type-test proven up to 5500A (and engineered solutions to 6300A). Short-circuit withstands are typically delivered in the 50–100 kA/1s range depending on busbar configuration and jointing technique; designs can be validated against the short-circuit requirements of IEC 61439-2. Internal arc classification and mitigation can be provided to IEC 61641 requirements when specified for personnel safety and switchroom integrity. Functional units support direct-on-line (DOL), star-delta, soft-starter (integratable soft starters), and VFD starters (AC drives) with industry-standard motor protection relays (Siemens 3RW/3RW5 family, Schneider, ABB/Eaton), plus communications options (Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP). Withdrawable/plug-in units with positive draw-out mechanisms, mechanical interlocks and multiple maintenance positions are built to comply with IEC 60947 series guard/clearance and IEC 61439 separation concepts. Standardized functional unit widths and mounting adapters in VX25/TS 8 allow cross-vendor interchangeability and rapid serviceability. Separation options from Form 3b through 4b are supported: segregated busbar chambers, separated cable zones, and individually enclosed functional units for service continuity and reduced fault propagation. IP protection ranges from IP31 for indoor protected switchrooms up to IP54 for harsher environments; climate control accessories such as TopTherm and Blue e+ coolers provide thermal management for VFDs and power electronics. For hazardous area requirements, Rittal enclosures can be adapted or combined with certified Ex-rated components per IEC 60079—using pressurization, purge-and-purge controls, or encapsulated assemblies. Design verification, routine and type testing follow IEC 61439-1 and -2: dielectric tests, temperature-rise, short-circuit verification, and mechanical tests are part of the documented verification package. Rittal’s prefabricated Ri4Power assemblies reduce on-site busbar work and accelerate commissioning. Compared with other MCC platforms (Siemens SIVACON/MNS, Schneider Prisma Set), Rittal’s modular VX25/Ri4Power approach emphasizes enclosure flexibility, rapid functional unit interchange, integrated climate control, and factory type-test traceability—making it suitable for EPC contractors, panel builders, and facility owners who require high-availability motor distribution with documented IEC compliance and global component interoperability.
