Hager Lighting Distribution Board
Hager components integrated into IEC 61439 lighting distribution board assemblies. Hager offers Univers N enclosure systems and h3+ moulded-case breakers for IEC 61439 commercial and building distribution panel assemblies.
The Hager Lighting Distribution Board is a modular IEC 61439-compliant assembly engineered for commercial and building lighting distribution, combining Hager Univers N enclosure systems with Hager h3+ moulded-case breakers and Hager MCB/RCBO/RCCB outgoing protection. Designed for final distribution in office, retail, hospitality and education buildings, typical assemblies are rated up to 400 A main supply with 12–72 outgoing ways, 230/400 V AC operation and IP31–IP42 enclosure protection. Assemblies are type-tested or routine-tested and verified per IEC 61439-1/2/3; switching and protective devices comply with IEC 60947 series and earth-fault detection meets IEC 61557 where required. Mechanical and electrical segregation is engineered to meet the forms of separation required by IEC 61439: common implementations for lighting boards are Form 2 or Form 4a separation to segregate busbar, functional units and outgoing circuits and to provide dedicated emergency lighting segregation. Busbar systems use copper conductors sized for rated currents and short-circuit withstand, with typical design short-time withstand targets between 25 kA and 50 kA (Icw, 1 s) depending on project coordination; final Icc/Ipk values are validated by calculation and test per IEC 61439 short-circuit verification procedures. Protection and control options are extensive: Hager h3+ MCCBs provide selective upstream protection and high breaking capacity; modular MCBs and RCBOs offer per-circuit overload/earth leakage protection; Type 2 surge protection devices coordinated to Hager range protect lighting drivers and control gear. Building automation and lighting control integration is supported via DALI, KNX or 1–10 V interfaces with segregation for emergency lighting circuits and provision for maintained/non-maintained switching. For hazardous area or special environments, designs can incorporate IEC 60079 considerations and ATEX-certified components. From a system-compatibility standpoint, Hager lighting boards can be specified alongside other low-voltage platforms such as Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS or Schneider Prisma Set for large installation consistency; however the Univers N platform is optimized for building distribution with compact depth, door-mounted metering, and configurable busbar spacings. Factory assembly and documentation follow IEC 61439 documentation requirements: wiring diagrams, barwork drawings, type and routine test records, verification calculations (temperature rise, dielectric, short-circuit), and component certificates. Typical use cases include multi-floor lighting distribution in commercial office cores, hospital lighting segregation with emergency lighting zones, retail centrals with DALI multi-scene control, and packaged retrofit panels for tenant fit-outs.
