Noark Electric Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Panel

Noark Electric components integrated into IEC 61439 automatic transfer switch (ats) panel assemblies. Noark Electric delivers the Ex9 series moulded-case breakers and Ex9C contactors as competitively priced components for IEC 61439 distribution and protection panels.

The Noark Electric Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Panel is an IEC 61439-compliant low-voltage switchgear assembly engineered for reliable mains-to-generator/UPS changeover in commercial, industrial and critical-infrastructure applications. Assemblies use Noark Ex9 series moulded-case circuit breakers (MCCBs) for overcurrent protection and selectivity, paired with Ex9C contactors for high-reliability switching of prime and standby sources. Typical panel capabilities include rated currents to 4000 A, configurable short-time withstand (Icw) and peak (Ipk) ratings depending on busbar design and fault level — typical engineered solutions deliver short-time ratings up to 25 kA (Icw) and peak currents to ~50 kA with appropriate busbar and breaker selection. Designs follow IEC 61439-1/-2 verification and type-test regimes and incorporate IEC 60947-series device requirements for breakers and contactors. The Noark ATS Panel supports both motorized and static (static transfer switch, STS) mechanisms with adjustable transfer and retransfer delays (0.1–10 seconds), source monitoring (voltage, frequency, phase sequence) and programmable load prioritization/shedding. Control hardware is provided as microprocessor-based ATS controllers with local metering and optional communications (Modbus RTU over RS-485, TCP/IP gateways), enabling SCADA integration and remote alarm reporting. Protection coordination is achieved with Ex9 MCCBs offering thermal-magnetic and electronic trip units that conform to IEC 60947-2, allowing long-time, short-time and instantaneous curve settings for discrimination and selectivity. Panel segregation and forms of separation are implemented per IEC 61439 definitions (Form 1 through Form 4b) — options include segregated busbar compartments, separated functional units (control circuits, metering) and finger-proof front access. Mechanical and environmental protection options range IP31 to IP54 depending on enclosure and gasket selection. Routine and verification testing executed prior to delivery includes temperature-rise, dielectric test, short-time withstand and peak withstand, mechanical operation and IP/anti-condensation measures as required by IEC 61439-1/2. For intrinsically safe or hazardous area installations, design changes and additional certification to IEC 60079 are required; standard Noark Ex9/Ex9C components are intended for non-explosive atmospheres unless expressly specified by the manufacturer. For specifiers used to modular systems (Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS, Schneider Prisma Set), Noark-based ATS panels provide a cost-competitive alternative while maintaining international device standards and the IEC 61439 assembly framework. Typical applications include hospitals, data centers, water/wastewater plants, manufacturing facilities and commercial buildings where fast, reliable source transfer, metered source supervision and coordinated protection are required. For project-specific short-circuit ratings, fault-level studies and ATS control logic, consult an IEC 61439 panel assembler (for example Patrion) to supply a verified ATS panel built around Noark Ex9 and Ex9C products.
