Custom Engineered Panel for Water & Wastewater

IEC 61439 custom engineered panel assemblies engineered for water & wastewater applications. IEC 61439 panel assemblies for water treatment plants, pumping stations, and wastewater facilities with high motor loads and corrosion-resistant requirements.

Custom engineered panel assemblies for water and wastewater applications combine IEC 61439 compliance with application-specific mechanical, electrical and environmental design to withstand corrosive atmospheres, high motor loads and continuous operation. Typical implementations integrate low-voltage switchgear concepts from product families such as Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS and Schneider Prisma Set into bespoke lineups: pump MCCs, feeder and distribution switchboards, VFD cubicles, soft‑starter bays, UT/PLC control panels and SCADA gateway enclosures. Design follows IEC 61439-1/-2 (assembly requirements and power switchgear) and where applicable IEC 61439-3 (distribution boards) and IEC 61439-6 (busbar trunking). Equipment selection adheres to IEC 60947 series for circuit-breakers, contactors and motor controllers and IEC 60255 for protection relays. Electrical ratings are project‑specific but typically cover rated currents (In) from 63 A to 4,000 A and short‑circuit withstand ratings from 25 kA to 100 kA (1 s) depending on busbar sizing and fault studies. Forms of separation are provided as Form 1 through Form 4b per IEC 61439 to isolate bus, functional units and wiring for safe maintenance in MCC lineups. Enclosures are specified to IP20–IP66 (per IEC 60529) or NEMA 4X equivalents; stainless steel 316L, epoxy powder coatings, Halar linings and FRP are used for aggressive chemical environments (chlorination, H2S, ammonia). For hazardous zones, panels can be designed to IEC 60079 (Ex d, Ex e) and comply with ATEX or local hazardous‑area regulations. Protection and motor management features include earth‑fault and residual current monitoring, electronic overcurrent protection, adjustable long‑time/short‑time/instant protection modules, ground‑fault neutralizers for biological treatment processes, soft starters and VFDs with DC chokes and output filters. Harmonic mitigation (passive filters or active front‑end drives) and power factor correction banks are typical in plants with large VFD fleets. Arc‑flash risk reduction is achieved through selective coordination, energy‑limiting devices, arc‑detection systems and structural segregation; designs reference IEC 61439 verification and IEEE/IEC best practices for arc mitigation. Controls and communications integrate PLC/HMI solutions, RTU/SCADA interfaces, Modbus TCP/RTU, Profinet, EtherNet/IP and optional IEC 61850 gateways for substation-level distribution. Thermal management—air conditioning, thermostatic heaters, IP‑rated ventilators and anti‑condensation elements—is sized to ASHRAE and projected ambient profiles. Factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), short‑circuit verification, temperature rise tests and routine dielectric testing are executed in accordance with IEC 61439 test requirements and client specifications. Custom engineered panels provide the flexibility to combine multi‑function equipment into compact lineups while meeting the strict electrical, mechanical and environmental demands of modern water and wastewater facilities.
