Metering & Monitoring Panel for Oil & Gas

IEC 61439 metering & monitoring panel assemblies engineered for oil & gas applications. Rugged IEC 61439 panel assemblies for upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas installations with hazardous area and extreme environment considerations.

Metering & Monitoring Panels for oil & gas installations are custom-engineered IEC 61439 assemblies that combine revenue-grade energy measurement, power quality analysis, and robust communications in Ex-capable, corrosion-resistant enclosures. Typical designs meet IEC 61439-1/-2 requirements for low-voltage switchgear and incorporate product-grade concepts familiar from SIVACON, MNS and Prisma Set families for busbar sizing, segregation and short-circuit withstand. Panels are specified for rated currents up to 2,500 A with short-circuit ratings commonly 50–100 kA depending on MCCB/ESD device selection (per IEC 60947 series testing and IEC 61439 verification).Forms of separation (Form 1 through Form 4b) are applied to segregate incoming MV/LV feeders, busbars, metering compartments and CT secondary blocks; a dedicated, lockable metering chamber is recommended (Form 3b / 4b) to meet revenue-meter security and maintenance isolation requirements.Revenue metering uses Class 0.5S–1.0 metering instruments compliant with IEC 62052/62053 (and national custody-transfer regulations where applicable). Typical meter models integrated include Schneider PowerLogic PM8000, ABB/GE/Janitza multi-function units and other industry-grade meters with CT-operated measurement for circuits above direct connection thresholds (direct-connected typically ≤65 A, CT-operated beyond). CT selection, accuracy class and knee-point testing follow IEC 61869 series and are designed to preserve Class 0.5S system accuracy across temperature extremes. For hazardous-area sites (onshore and offshore) panels are designed to interface with Ex-rated instrument transformers and may be supplied in Ex d (flameproof), Ex e (increased safety) or Ex nR arrangements per IEC 60079 and ATEX/IECEx rules. Enclosure materials and protection levels reflect operating environment: painted carbon steel for onshore midstream, 316L stainless steel and epoxy coatings for offshore and sour-gas environments, and IP ratings normally IP31–IP42 for internal plant rooms or upgraded to IP54–IP65 for external/skid-mounted packages. Environmental controls (heaters, thermostatic fans, air conditioners, desiccants) are specified for -40 °C to +60 °C service and high-humidity, salt-fog conditions.Panel communications support AMR/SCADA integration via Modbus RTU/TCP, M-Bus, Ethernet, DNP3 and optional IEC 61850 gateways. Cybersecurity and managed-communication practices are applied for remote sites. Typical configurations include single-bay revenue metering for custody transfer, multi-bay monitoring racks with 20–100+ meters for compressor stations and loading terminals, and skid-mounted metering & monitoring packages partnered with flow computers and RTU/PLC equipment. Factory type-testing (routine and design verification per IEC 61439-1/2/3/6) includes dielectric testing, temperature-rise, short-time withstand and protection coordination to meet oil & gas reliability and inspection regimes.
