Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Panel for Marine & Offshore
IEC 61439 automatic transfer switch (ats) panel assemblies engineered for marine & offshore applications. Classification-society-approved IEC 61439 panel assemblies for ships, offshore platforms, and marine installations meeting DNV, Lloyd's, and ABS requirements.
Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) Panels for Marine & Offshore service critical shipboard and platform loads where classification approval, robust mechanical design, and proven electrical performance are mandatory. Patrion engineers IEC 61439-2 ATS assemblies with rated currents to 4000 A and short-circuit withstands up to 100 kA peak depending on configuration. Typical hardware options include motorized break-before-make manual/MCC style transfer, electrically driven cam-change mechanisms, and static (solid-state) transfer switches using IGBT or thyristor converters for sub-cycle transfers. Architectures mirror proven low-voltage families (Siemens SIVACON, MNS and Schneider Prisma Set) for modularity, segregation and paralleling capability. Panels are built to IEC 61439-1/2 verification tests (temperature-rise, dielectric, short-circuit) and integrate IEC 60947 switchgear components (circuit-breakers, contactors) and IEC 60079-rated explosion-protected options for hazardous-zone installations. Shipboard electrical standards such as the IEC 60092 series and classification society rules (DNV, Lloyd's, ABS, Bureau Veritas) are applied during design, FAT and class witnessing. Forms of separation (Form 2b, 3b, 4a/4b per IEC 61439) are selected to segregate incoming sources, ATS mechanism and load feeders for operator safety and maintainability. Environmental design addresses salt-spray and coastal corrosion (316L stainless enclosures or ISO 12944-compliant coatings), vibration and shock mitigation (IEC 60068 testing, anti-vibration mounts, shock class design), and ingress protection (IP31–IP54 typical; higher on request). Control and monitoring include voltage, frequency and phase-sequence sensing, synch-check and paralleling logic, adjustable transfer/retransfer delays (0.1 s to 10 s for motorized; <20 ms for static ATS), load prioritization and shedding, dead-bus re-transfer, and programmable PLC-based logic with Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, IEC 61850 or proprietary SCADA interfaces. Typical marine/offshore applications include shore/generator/UPS transfer on merchant vessels, cruise ships, FPSOs, drillships, and offshore accommodation platforms where segregation of vital (navigation, fire pumps, emergency lighting) and non-essential loads must be enforced. Mechanical and electrical interlocks, key-lock schemes, and redundant control power are provided for fail-safe operation. Patrion supplies classification-approved factory-assembled and tested ATS panels, supports on-site installation and commissioning, and performs FAT/SAT with class witness to ensure compliance with IEC 61439, IEC 60947, IEC 60079 and relevant classification requirements.
