Custom Engineered Panel for Food & Beverage
IEC 61439 custom engineered panel assemblies engineered for food & beverage applications. Hygienic IEC 61439 panel assemblies for food processing, beverage production, and cold storage facilities meeting washdown and hygiene requirements.
Custom Engineered Panel for Food & Beverage applications are bespoke IEC 61439 low-voltage assemblies designed to combine hygienic mechanical design, robust electrical performance and process integration. Typical implementations merge power distribution, motor control center (MCC) sections, VFD/drive bays, soft starters, PLC I/O, and local HMI into a single lineup to minimize footprint in bottling lines, dairies, breweries, bakeries and cold storage distribution centers. Platforms such as Siemens SIVACON, ABB MNS and Schneider Prisma Set can be adapted into stainless-steel AISI 304 or AISI 316L enclosures with electropolished surfaces, angled top sloping to IP65/IP66 and CIP/SIP-compatible seals to meet EHEDG and HACCP guidance for hygiene and washdown. Electrical design complies with IEC 61439-1/2 verification requirements—clearances/creepage, temperature-rise, dielectric properties and short-circuit withstand per the selected rated short-circuit current (typically 25 kA–100 kA r.m.s. sym. depending on project). Rated voltages are commonly up to 1000 V AC with main bus ratings from project-specific values to modular systems rated up to 6,300 A. Internal separation is applied per Forms of Separation Form 1 through Form 4b to segregate busbars, functional units, and control wiring for maintainability and safety. Switchgear and control components follow the 60947 series: MCCBs and moulded-case circuit-breakers (IEC 60947-2), contactors and motor starters (IEC 60947-4-1), and electronic soft starters/drives with EMC filters. Explosion-hazard areas in sugar plants or dry-milling facilities are addressed by designing to IEC 60079 series (IEC 60079-0, -10-2 for combustible dust) and by selecting certified ATEX/IECEx components and appropriate enclosure concepts. Mechanical and environmental specifications can range from IP20 for indoor control rooms to IP66 for washdown zones and marine/coastal stainless finishes for high-corrosion environments. Surface treatments include passivation and electropolishing; gasket materials meet FDA/NSF compatibility when required. Thermal considerations—insulation coordination, derating of breakers and drives in refrigerated spaces, and space heaters for condensation prevention—are included in the thermal design and validated during type testing. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) include routine IEC 61439 tests, power-frequency voltage withstand, polarity checks, continuity/resistance and functional control tests. Documentation delivered includes wiring diagrams, bill of materials, torque records, test certificates, and spare-parts lists. Typical real-world applications include brew-house main distribution, CIP pump MCCs, bottling-line servo and drive panels, refrigerated warehouse power distribution and utility redundancy schemes with ATS/UPS integration.
